Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine (glandular) disorder affecting 10% of American women of reproductive age. Though symptoms and severity vary greatly among women, PCOS tends to be characterized by

  • High insulin resistance
  • High levels of male hormones that can cause excessive hair growth
  • Unusually light, infrequent or even absent menstruation cycles, resulting in subfertility or infertility
  • Metabolic syndrome resulting in obesity
